President Donald Trump's inauguration took place on Monday, and attendees' attire made their own statements.
First Lady Melania Trump led the way in a navy and ivory ensemble designed by Adam Lippes, an independent American designer known for his refined aesthetic, timeless and elegant designs.
Her outfit included a custom-made navy silk wool coat, a pencil skirt of the same material, and an ivory silk crepe blouse, each piece hand-sewn in New York City. Completing the look was a wide-brimmed hat, which left her eyes almost hidden.
“The tradition of the presidential inauguration embodies the beauty of American democracy and today we had the honor of dressing our first lady, Mrs. Melania Trump. Mrs. Trump's gown was created by some of America's finest artisans and I feel very proud to show it work for the world,” Lippes said.
Ivanka Trump, the president's eldest daughter, showed off her sense of style in a forest green pencil skirt paired with a thin black belt and an asymmetrical double-breasted jacket. She finished the look with sleek black heels and a classic Lady Dior bag.
Tiffany Trump, the president's youngest daughter, opted for understated elegance in a floor-length navy velvet coat dress. She kept her accessories to a minimum, allowing the rich texture of her outfit to take center stage.
Meanwhile, Usha Vance, wife of Vice President-elect JD Vance, brought classic sophistication to the event in an Oscar de la Renta creation. The Second Lady wore a custom peony-colored cashmere coat with a scarf and a complementing tea-length dress.
