Daniel Gayle's Denzilpatrick line has always been a melting pot of different cultures. For fall 2024, the designer looked at London's nightlife cultures of different eras, while combining the design of an Edwardian ensemble with contemporary streetwear.
“We really let ourselves play here, imagining that if we transported a young man from his moment at the turn of the last century to a present-day night out, how would he retain his sense of self and still make it past the velvet rope?” he said.
The results were a fun collision between time and space. Cue a range of modern looks that echo lines and cuts from a more distant past, such as sporty outerwear made from lush theatrical inner fabrics, tracksuit sets with old-fashioned button-down collars, two-in-one shirts with faux ties and bomber jackets. jackets adorned with vintage buttons sourced from collectors across the UK; some lots came with handwritten notes, which enlivened Gayle's project.
The designer said the idea of the faux tie was based on the Edwardian-dandy music hall style of dress, combined with more contemporary ways of “dressing”, while the buttoned looks served as a nod to the Pearly Kings and Queens who They use old buttons. and decorations to create a beautiful spectacle for the entertainment of others and, in doing so, raise money for their communities.
