Craig Green returns to the runway on Spring 25 with a pre-fashion week show

Craig Green returned to the runway on Wednesday morning in his packed but intimate East London space with the designer mixing utilitarian elements with fluid fabrics, some whimsical motifs and a restrained but unmissable color palette for spring 2025.

And boy, was it big on details. Not that any of this was a surprise, as Green is known for his interesting approach to silhouette and patterns, as well as embracing powerful details.

So, there's plenty for established Green fans to sink their teeth into.

Think a biker jacket with multicolored pieces and stitching that's more Mad Max than Isle of Man TT Races; a double-layered mini 'poncho' with a childish fire truck motif (one of several pieces in that regard); or a floor-length mesh top with thick fringes.

There were casual jackets and shirts that play with traditional checks; mesh caftans with fringes; Fred Perry shirts became more eye-catching wrapped with multiple belts cinched at the waist; or layered pajama-style suits that combine sheerness with details like button trims and piping.

Unlike some 'stated' collections in the designer menswear category, much of it was surprisingly wearable and the wealth of detail could easily be adapted for real-life appeal rather than simply a catwalk manifesto that grabs the headlines.

And Green knows a thing or two about being commercial, as evidenced by his ongoing collaborations with Adidas.

So what was all this supposed to mean? Perhaps it's best to let Green explain: “The outlines of who we are supposed to be and the footprints we leave behind walk side by side. The rough mastery of inherited codes and the rhythmic appeal of successive and repetitive forms, admired and followed.

“Looking closer, the stoically familiar figures reveal intricate and delicate constructions. Like a child exploring an engine, the components are carefully disassembled. Separating the hard and the soft, the rigid forms multiply and intertwine, while the light curtains They constantly dissolve.

“Hazy photographic impressions bathe the body and float in the air beyond. Finally, fading, a sudden return to the tangible makes everyday images sharper and more beautiful than before.”

Unlike some parade notes. That summed it up pretty well.
