The Dior house has traveled to Thailand to open its latest boutique, an unprecedented Gold House store concept located in the central Ploenchit district of Bangkok.
A Dior Gold House, which opens on Friday night and is designed to evolve with the seasons and collections, as part of an unexpected stop on Dior's odyssey around the world.
Fusing cultures and savoir-faire, Dior Gold House invites visitors on a fascinating immersion into what the Paris-based brand calls a “reimagined realm of dreams.”
In a bold move, the octagonal structure replicates the façade of the house at 30 Avenue Montaigne, the cradle of Parisian haute couture, where Monsieur Dior staged his legendary New Look show in February 1947. Although the elegant store Bangkok is situated in the middle of a garden sprouting botanical plants and flowers.
A large space of about 1,000 square meters whose eight sides are adorned entirely in gold, with mosaics and local techniques used by Thai artisans. Designed to combine the elegance of Paris with the plural heritage of captivating Thailand.
All the house's design divisions are on display, from women's ready-to-wear by Maria Grazia Chiuri and men's fashion by Kim Jones, to shoes, accessories, bags, jewelry and Dior Maison's lines dedicated to tableware.
With natural materials such as bamboo, wood and raffia, to better contrast Dior symbols such as the lucky star; toile de Jouy, or its Plan de Paris print. Viewed from a drone, Dior Gold House even features a roof with a giant five-pointed star, a much-loved icon of Monsieur Dior.
“Reflecting Christian Dior's fascination with art, Dior Gold House exhibits works by nine iconic Thai artists,” Dior stressed in a statement.
Visitors can enjoy installations made from elephant footprints, by Boonserm Premthada; Saran Yen Panya, from 56th Studio, who reinterprets the iconic tuk-tuk of the streets of Bangkok for Dior; and sculptures by Wishulada Panthanuvong that subtly decorate the interiors. The armchairs by Eggarat Wongcharit and the furniture by the Sumphat duo (Rush Pleansuk and Philippe Moisan) combine elegance and functionality.
While the Parisian house's tradition of commissioning artists to create artistic versions of Lady Dior bags continues with works by Vassana Saima and Savin Saima of Vassana, using bamboo that evokes traditional floral art.
Additionally, there is a Dior Café, which combines gourmet pleasures with the French art of entertainment, decorated with an exclusive Korakot Aromdee scenography of bamboo flora and fauna.
An ideal setting for three-star chef Mauro Colagreco, best known for his famous Mirazur restaurant in Menton, France. He has composed a delicious score for a sweet menu inspired by nature (Christian Dior's first love) and the House's haute couture legacy.
We are talking about a French and Thai entente cordiale.
