Chanel named A$AP Rocky as its new brand ambassador and debuted his tenure with a teaser video filmed in New York co-starring Margaret Qualley.

The video appeared on Sunday just 48 hours before Chanel couturier Michel Blazy presents his first Métiers d'Art collection also in New York. It is a unique line first created by Karl Lagerfeld that highlights the unique group of artisans Chanel has brought together in skills such as embroidery, pleating, glove making and costume jewelry.

Directed by Michel Gondry, the 2.49-minute short begins with the stars waking up in bed in a walk-up apartment in Williamsburg. Where, after a quick kiss to her lover's forehead, Qualley disappears into a small bathroom, before magically changing out of her blue nightgown and reappearing in a red, white and blue houndstooth Chanel jacket, paired with pale blue pants and her hair in a bun.

As soon as he disappears, A$AP jumps out of bed, descends the exterior steel stairs of the apartment building and takes off in a mad dash after Qualley. This leads him to swim under the Brooklyn Bridge and run north through the Lower East Side, before finally catching up with Qualley at the Astor Place station. All the action backed up my moody background music, courtesy of Le Motel.

In between, the rapper and Rihanna's husband manages to find time to stop at two discount stores to buy some pants and a blazer. Arriving just in time, she kneels and holds out a small white Chanel box, containing a diamond engagement ring, at the station entrance. The sight of which leads the actress to leap into the air in a paroxysm of joy, before the happy couple march arm in arm back to the subway.

And voila, one hopes to attend the Métiers d'Art exhibition, which will be unveiled on Tuesday at 8 pm New York time.
