The Fashion Designers Council of America presented on Tuesday the calendar of the show of the New York Fashion Week for September, with nine debut collections, the new largest harvest of this century.
The additions for the first time to the official NYFW calendar will be 6397, Amir Taghi, Dwarmis, Lii, Maria Mcmanus, Nardos, Raúl Peinaranda, Rùadh and SC103, underlining the role of New York as an incubator of new talents.
Unexpectedly, the season will debut on Thursday, September 11 with Michael Kors at 11 am, the first of the 69 official parades in the calendar organized by the CFDA, the governing body of American Fashion.
Traditionally, the main parades tended to start on Friday. This next season will be busy from Thursday, September 11 with 12 catwalks, until Tuesday, September 16. Indeed, the season will now concentrate on the first five days, with Tory Burch and the Luar succession label the last two main names. They will close shows on Tuesday, September 15.
New York can also boast bold face marks such as Calvin Klein, Alexander Wang, coach, off-white and the recently reergitized Kamali Norma. Together with a series of exciting independent talents such as Khaite, Altuzarra, Prabal Gurung, Zankov and Diotima.
However, three of the most famous global labels in the United States: Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren will skip the season, while their recent policy of showing outside the official calendar continues. The CFDA NYFW fund was established in 2022 to raise awareness about the importance of NYFW's cultural, artistic and economic impact. Now in its seventh season, the CFDA NYFW Fund has supported almost 50 international publishers to date with financial and in kind support that possible through brand contributions and strategic associations.
“The collections of this September represent the resistance and dynamism of the city through a global lens,” said Joseph Maglieri, director of the CFDA Fashion Week.
“With great returns to the calendar, visiting brands around the world and a new rising talent guard that finds its rhythm and step, New York fashion week is still an entrance door for discovery, creativity and narration of stories that represent the spirit and independence of American fashion,” Maglieri added.
