Céline bets on an ultra chic and very British man for next summer

Céline has once again chosen the video format to present its new men's collection, alternating black and white with colour to the tune of Jean-Philippe Rameau's Les Indes Gallants. In this magnificent film entitled “The Bright Young”, shot in Norfolk, in the east of England, Hedi Slimane abandons the charm of the rebellious rocker to focus on very classic pieces in the spirit of the 1920s. For Spring/Summer 2025, he reinterprets men's clothing through sophisticated and virtuoso tailoring.

The creative director of the LVMH fashion house chose Holkham Hall, the Palladian-style residence built by the Earl of Leicester in the 18th century, as the setting, along with its magnificent park, where herds of deer sometimes roam. The models, slender, like young aristocrats fresh out of the prestigious Eton school, stroll through the vast English garden with their innate elegance, hands in the pockets of their impeccable suits. They skirt carefully trimmed hedges, stroll among fountains and statues with an extremely chic air.

Suits feature prominently, preferably in three pieces, with fine chains protruding from the waistcoat pockets, a reference to the bellows watches of yesteryear. They are expertly crafted from soft, beautiful English linen, summer cashmeres and light tweeds, and paired with white or striped shirts. The traditional pinstripe banker's suit and all-white ensemble are not to be missed.

Pegged trousers are worn with a high waist. They fit close to the body without losing comfort or natural movement. The jacket has all the nuances of masculine codes.

Hedi Slimane proposed a double-breasted version, sometimes with vertical stripes and piping, a more strict version in navy blue with a precious heraldic shield embroidered on the pocket, or a silk jacket tied at the waist with a ribbon belt. Not forgetting the military uniform jackets, the red frock coat used for hunting or the long velvet cape with gold braid.

These young gentlemen ride through the countryside on bicycles (designed by the stylist) carrying baskets full of wild flowers. Sometimes they take romantic boat trips. In a more daring style, the Celine boy sometimes dares to wear a biker jacket with minishorts and knee-high socks, or a short suit.

The designer has revived the retro style of the late 20th century, leaving no stone unturned. From double-clip braces to regimental ties and bow ties, not forgetting the flower in the buttonhole, the essential boater hat and the white cricket jersey with a V-neck trimmed in red and blue.

The ensemble is completed with formal or evening wear, with grey flannel trousers, a tuxedo shirt, a black frock coat and a top hat, and the house's new fragrance “A rebours”, inspired by the novel of the same name by Joris-Karl Huysmans and its hero, the decadent dandy Jean Des Esseintes.
