BFC announces program for London Fashion Week

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced the program for June London Fashion Week (LFW), which will take place from June 7-9. LFW June will continue celebrating its 40thth anniversary starting a cultural moment in London. The event will provide a platform for diverse British designers and brands focusing on the depth and breadth of the menswear business in the UK.

On June 7, the BFC will take over the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) to celebrate LFW40 and three of the cultures that have made a rich and significant contribution to the British fashion industry, aiming to build on them each year . This year's guest curators Clara Amfo, award-winning radio and television host; Kai-Isaiah Jamal, poet, model, consultant and visibility activist, and Simran Randhawa, writer and creative, will curate a cultural program of events informed by incredible exhibitions by guest photographers, Dani D'Ingeo, Stephen Akinyemi and Tami Aftab, said BFC in press release.

London Fashion Week – June will take place from June 7-9 and will celebrate its 40th anniversary by highlighting British menswear. The event will feature curated exhibitions and cultural events at the Institute of Contemporary Art, highlighting Black, South Asian and queer cultures. A '40 by 40' program will show 40 activations across the city.

The three cultures informing this year's exhibits and programming are Black culture centered on self-love; South Asian culture focused on patterns, textiles and crafts; and queer culture, with special attention to young creative voices from the trans community. Rooted in London, the narrative will focus on British brands and designers, as well as personal stories from a variety of communities within these cultures. To celebrate LFW40, there will be a retrospective installation celebrating the success of LFW and the important role it plays globally at the intersection of culture.

Throughout the weekend, the breadth of British menswear, from Savile Row to sportswear to rising talent and heritage brands, will be celebrated with a '40 for 40' program in honor of LFW40. It will consist of a program of 40 activations organized by British brands and designers throughout the city, including; parades, presentations and events. The BFC will take over the Groucho Club on June 9 to offer designers and brands a dynamic activation space.

The BFC will work closely with 1664 Blanc to amplify the diverse cultures and creatives who play a vital role in shaping the UK fashion industry. On June 8, 1664 Blanc will open the LFW to a consumer audience, inviting visitors to explore the ICA's cultural programming. As part of 1664 Blanc's activation titled 'Explorations in Blue', visitors will be able to attend four exclusive panels discussing key issues facing the industry with experts, designers and industry voices including Charles Jeffrey, Munroe Bergdorf and Rejina Pyo .
