AMI Paris continues to forge stronger ties with the Chinese market. Since Shanghai-based venture capital firm Sequoia Capital China acquired a majority stake in the company in 2021, the brand has significantly strengthened its presence in the region. To celebrate the launch of its new store in Suzhou, located 100 kilometers west of Shanghai, AMI Paris has announced a fashion show scheduled for April 10.
With an area of 322 square meters, the new commercial space, opened in November, is located at No. 1 Cang Street, nestled in the lively Gusu district of Suzhou. To commemorate the occasion, the maison, under the creative direction of Alexandre Mattiussi, will showcase its Fall/Winter 2024-25 collection. Renowned for capturing the essence of “Parisian life and style,” this collection will adorn the historic Xiangmen City Wall, an iconic backdrop within Suzhou, often hailed as “the Venice of China.”
“Since our inception, China has played a fundamental role in the history and success of AMI. In 2019, Shanghai hosted the first AMI fashion show abroad,” recalls Alexandre Mattiussi, explaining that “it was natural for us to organize a replica of the fall parade.” /Winter 2024 fashion show in China.”
Without a doubt, AMI Paris is leaving its mark throughout the Celestial Empire. In November, a pop-up store and three pop-up cafes opened in Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. Having established its presence in China with its first boutique in 2016, AMI Paris now has 18 locations across the country, with approximately 40 outlets across the Asian market.
