Alejandra Alonso Rojas Fall 2024 Show and Runway Review

Alejandra Alonso Rojas opted for a calm and peaceful environment for her fall 2024 collection, drawing inspiration from the juxtaposed energies of the city and nature.

“When I meditate, I was really thinking about how I find myself in these very peaceful places with sounds,” Alonso Rojas said backstage. “It could be the wind and the leaves or even when nature gets really aggressive; there's still something really powerful and empowering about it. I really discovered that I need those two energies: the inspiring city and the discomfort of it with all the sounds and beauty of nature.”

Alonso Rojas interpreted this inspiration through a palette of earthy colors, nature-inspired prints, and multiple fabrications ranging from airy silks and soft cashmeres to chocolate-colored leathers and velvets. The designer's prints, such as a leaf print she created by hammering real leaves onto fabric and digitizing it, were a nice addition to the pieces, giving many feminine looks a statement element. Standout looks included two of the closing dresses, including a black and green corset-style maxi dress and an off-the-shoulder silk dress with exaggerated straps.

“Another combination of elements, which I find really interesting, is the combination of masculinity versus femininity,” he continued. “I think it's very important for the brand to have these carefree elements and the clash between nightwear and daywear.”

Masculinity emerged through the suits and heavier fabrications of Alonso Rojas. He created several styles in a tan herringbone fabric, which had a subtle gold motif throughout the print that added a touch of softness to the styles. The heavier outerwear also included leaf print as a silk lining as a way to juxtapose femininity and masculinity, according to the designer.

Alonso Rojas' fall 2024 collection was a refined update of the designer's tried-and-true silhouettes and design codes and showcased her ability to juxtapose masculinity and femininity for a complete collection.
