A bold ode to SoHo

It's been five years since New York designer Sally LaPointe moved her brand's headquarters to the corner of SoHo between Howard and Crosby streets.

She has since returned to the runway (presenting her spring 2024 show on the same block) and focused on the brand's next phase of growth with the appointment of industry veteran Reese Pozgay as head of VP of marketing. It also expanded categories (bridal; accessories through sunglasses) and has seen an increase in e-commerce traffic (and product movement) due to the rise in celebrity attire, with fans including Beyoncé, Sydney Sweeney, Doja Cat and J.Lo.

Oprah, too: “She's a loyal customer now, which is amazing,” LaPointe said during a preview.

The momentum could be seen throughout his resort collection, which LaPointe said he designed as a “love letter” to his “local” corner and all the diverse and amazing people and energy he sees passing by on the streets.

The result fused the brand's signature bold evening glamor with a new approach to daywear arising from wholesaler and customer requests. Think a stretchy yet sexy knit (or an asymmetrical draped knit pant); double-face satin kaftan minidresses over pants, and a continued expansion of denim for countless types of customers instead of “just T-shirts and jeans.”

For example, the stellar denim trench coat with Mongolian details that Beyoncé loved now comes in a snake print; a light stretch leopard sequin, or a garment-dyed, mineral-washed copper-toned “PDF Denim.” Her outerwear (also in new cropped proportions) was paired with new bouclé sweaters; sexy shorts (a fall fashion item) or a fantastic new pair of cargo jeans with bulging pockets, as seen in the collection's look book, also photographed on her headquarters block and styled by LaPointe.

To complete the day-to-night assortment, LaPointe dressed in bold, confident party wear, a la a simple, elegant black knit dress; high-shine “OG Lapointe” sheer and sequin dresses; Head-to-toe embroidered electric blue looks and sleek catsuits topped with fully feathered minis.
