What is out of fashion by 2024 and what to wear in its place
Outdated fashion trends don't mean getting rid of your entire wardrobe. I'll keep most of mine in rotation, but there are a few 2023 fashion trends I'll be leaving behind for these fresher looks for 2024. As much as I love my platform heels and any way to add height to my 5'2″ frame . Classic slingback heels have always had my heart. I also love that brooches and statement jewelry from the 80s are back in style. So I'm definitely embracing the Dynasty aesthetic of being too young for the first time. Here's what's out of style for 2024, what's affecting my storage, and what's being added to my closet for 2024.

1. Outdated Fashion Trends Crystal Drop Earrings | Stylish for 2024: 80s earrings
As a former Mrs. Nevada and Mrs. England, I'm never going to completely get rid of my crystal chandelier earrings, but I also adore the sculptural earrings and bold gold hoops of the '80s. Love it or hate it, the year 2000 is disappearing and the 80s are coming back. As seen at Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta and Ferragamo.
I'm here for the sculptural gold earrings, shoulder pads, and leggings. Yeah! They too are back and ready to embrace my Dynasty and Dallas era that I missed the first time around. I mean, my hair was destined for big blowouts.
2. Off the Body Chains | On Brooches
I haven't worn body chains since they first came into fashion in the '90s and by 2024 they are definitely an outdated fashion trend. I've always been more of a brooch girl. Whether it's a Chanel crystal brooch, a YSL logo brooch or a Versace gold safety pin brooch. In fact, I have a dress with safety pins from Versace and I use the safety pins instead of buying more.
Body jewelry will always be a trend that goes out of style quickly and only works in summer. Face brooches that are timeless and can be worn in all seasons. I know where I prefer to invest my money.
For 2024, don't just think about designer or logo pins. A bit like the jewelry trends for 2024, also work with sculptural pins attached to your jacket or coat or thigh-high leg opening.
3. Long denim skirts | In column skirts
I never really liked long denim skirts. They're a little messy for me and usually overwhelm me.
By 2024, it is column skirts that will replace long denim skirts. The trick is to find the length that best suits your needs. Whether midi or maxi. Think about column skirts as they are the most elegant sisters. For the most fashionable styles for 2024, look for black, sheer or metallic maxi skirts.
4. Obsolete fashion trends – platforms | Stylish for the slingbacks of 2024
While platform heels may be an outdated fashion trend, my platform heels aren't going to go very far. Like I love any excuse to add inches, but I never felt like they were my style.
I'm definitely more of a classic style girl and that's why the return of slingbacks in all heel heights, from flats to kittens to stilettos, makes me happy. But don't forget a pedicure to remove calluses, since this is the only part of your foot you will see.
Prada, Versace and Dior have some of the best slingbacks for 2024, but Steve Madden, Sam Edelman and Tony Bianco also offer really good, more affordable luxury for fewer styles. Including metallic slingback heels that set the metallic and slingback shoe trends for 2024.
If you've read my blog for a while, you'll know that my style is the more glamorous the better. Then give me all the metallic and crystal embellishments.
While neon went out of style in 2024, metallics, sequins and crystals are definitely in style. Don't save these looks just for the night. 2024 is the year to use them every day too.

Of course, don't throw out all your favorites just because they're no longer in style! Rotate the pieces that are most in style or save them for the next time they are in style again.
