4 designers present at 'INIFD Presents GenNext' at LFW in India

Four creative designers showcased their collections at the 'INIFD Presents GenNext' show on the opening day of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW). Lakme Fashion Week's 'INIFD Presents GenNext' featured four innovative designers. They included 'Rosani' by Rohitash Notani, which features workwear with a twist, 'The Terra Tribe' by Charmee Ambavat that highlights indigenous African influences, Shimona Agarwal's modern reinterpretation of craftsmanship and the sustainable collection 'Third Space' by Kriti Greta Singhee.

Rohitash Notani's brand 'Rosani' was created after a firm knowledge gained at IED Milan, where fashion marketing management was the focus segment. His 'Anima & Animus' collection was about workwear and uniform fabrics such as denim and Oxford presented with a touch of embroidered materials, embellishments and flowers. Rohitash gave a fresh and innovative look to the clothes that were tailored to perfection. Square cuts and bugle beads were a bold fashion statement, while baguettes and crinolines were a offering for every body shape.

Charmee Ambavat's experience in investments and banking was replaced by her true passion for fashion when she graduated from NIFT, Mumbai. A creative stint with 'Shift's' Nimish Shah encouraged her to start her own label 'The Terra Tribe'. Her references for the collection were drawn from the indigenous tribes of Africa and painted mud houses. Fusing the nuances of masculine and feminine elements, her collection called 'Indigene' was creatively based on versatile and timeless archives. Using 100 percent cotton made locally by conscious weavers in India; The garments were a mix of pigmented dyes that are environmentally friendly. Each garment was a labor of love that maintained firm control of low waste production, fair wages and no animal-based materials, the company said in a press release.

Shimona Agarwal has further honed her talent with one of India's top designers, Hemang Agarwal in Varanasi. For her eponymous brand, Shimona introduced her HUE collection, which was a reimagining of fashion for the modern soul and a modern interpretation of crafts and styles that could transcend the seasons.

A NIFT Kolkata alumnus, Kriti Greta Singhee's collection 'Third Space – Sustainable Future' focused on a creative flow of geometric patterns, mathematical art and folds. The color palette was warm and earthy to match the collection's title. There were tons of white, gray and ash hues, which were highlighted with pleats and pleats, while the fabrics were a mix of natural, organic, sustainable, eco-friendly, hand-woven silks and cotton silks from Fulia in Bengal.
