Wrexham striker Paul Mullin has said he did not bite Birmingham City left-back Alec Cochrane's leg, insisting it is not what it looks like.
Birmingham won 3-1 against Wrexham in a match known as the “Hollywood derby” because of the clubs' famous owners: NFL legend Tom Brady has a minority stake in Birmingham, and Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are co-owners of Wrexham.
Mullin, who came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute, collided with Cochrane and was later shown on television appearing to bite his opponent's leg.
“I know what it looks like… but it didn't happen. Although you can see his leg was thinking about attacking my mouth,” Mullin said in a post on X.
Wrexham remain top of League One, although the defeat ended their unbeaten start to the season and they move level on points with Birmingham, who have a game in hand.
