The Chicago White Sox suffered their 100th loss on Sunday and are on pace for one of the worst seasons in Major League Baseball history with 31 games remaining on their schedule.
This loss was a 9-4 result at the hands of the Detroit Tigers. Andy Ibanez hit a home run and had three RBIs for the Tigers in the win. Colt Keith also had three RBIs for Detroit.

Andrew Vaughn put in a valiant effort for the White Sox. He hit a home run and had two RBIs. Jonathan Cannon allowed five runs and eight hits in four innings.
The White Sox need to finish with a 12-19 record down the stretch to avoid tying the 1962 New York Mets, who went 40-120-1. That Mets team holds the modern record for most losses in a season. The Cleveland Spiders hold the all-time record at 20-134 in 1899.

Only the 1916 Philadelphia A's reached 100 losses in fewer games than the White Sox. At one point that season, they had a record of 29-100-1.
Chicago's most losses in a season came in 1970, when they had a 56-106 record. In 1932, they had a winning percentage of .325 when they had a 49-102-1 record.

On August 8, Chicago fired Pedro Grifol as the team continued to spiral downwards. The team named Grady Sizemore as interim coach and has a 3-11 record under him.
