UFC Fight Night results: Rose Namajunas remains in title contention after beating Tracy Cortez


Rose Namajunas moved a step closer to a title fight by outpointing Tracy Cortez via unanimous decision in the women's flyweight main event of UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Denver.

Namajunas (13-6) outlanded Cortez (11-2) 119 to 85 in total strikes and logged more than six minutes of control in the victory. The former strawweight champion entered Saturday's festivities in ninth place in the 125-pound decision.

Namajunas defeats Cortez in a decisive victory

Healthy: Rose Namajunas used striking and uppercut grappling to stop a spirited effort from Tracy Cortez and earn a unanimous decision Saturday night in the main event of UFC Fight Night at Ball Arena in Denver.

It was a home match for UFC No. 6-ranked flyweight Namajunas (14-6 MMA, 11-5 UFC), who has been based in Denver for the past decade, and the former two-time strawweight champion dominated in every facet against Cortez. In the early portions of the fight, Namajunas used her superior striking to take Cortez down, and her grappling took over in the middle rounds.

By scores of 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47, Namajunas claimed her second consecutive victory after losing her flyweight debut against Manon Fiorot in 2023.
