Travis Kelce will executive produce the comedy that will debut at SXSW

Travis Kelce is already making steps in Hollywood. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Super Bowl champion has his first executive producing credit on a new film that will have its world premiere in March at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas.

“My Dead Friend Zoe” is described as a dark comedy drama about a U.S. Army veteran, her dead best friend who she can't let go, and her estranged grandfather. The film stars Ed Harris, Sonequa Martin-Green and Natalie Morales, who are credited as executive producers alongside Kelce. Directed and co-written by Kyle Hausmann-Stokes, “My Dead Friend Zoe” will debut March 9 at the festival. It does not yet have a distributor for a broader release.

Kelce, whose high-profile romance with Taylor Swift has sparked a frenzy, has hinted at plans to dip his toe into entertainment after his appearance on “Saturday Night Live” last year. Last week, before the Super Bowl, she told the Los Angeles Times that she has been focused on football, but that “there are definitely conversations about Hollywood.”

He said that, personally, his favorite genre is comedy.

“I'm comedy in every way,” he said. “I just like to have fun and make people laugh.”
