Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur apologized to teammate Son Heung-Min for making an offensive comment about South Koreans.
On a television program in Uruguay, Bentancur was asked for a Spurs player's jersey and responded: “Sonny's?” He added that he could also be Son's cousin, because “they're all pretty much the same.”
Bentancur, who is on Uruguay's Copa América squad, posted an apology on his Instagram Story on Friday.
He wrote: “Brother Sony! I apologize for what happened, it was just a very bad joke! You know.” [that] I love you and would never disrespect or hurt you or anyone else! I love you brother!”
Son, the Tottenham captain, has yet to publicly respond to the apology.
