The second demand for sexual abuse accuses the state of negligence of NC

Raleigh, NC – The 14 former male athletes of the North Carolina state who filed a demand claiming sexual abuse under the appearance of treatment by the former director of Sports Medicine at Wolfpack are also demanding school for negligence.

The group filed a second lawsuit this week before the North Carolina Industrial Commission against school as a public entity.

On Wednesday, those athletes, mostly as demanders of “John Doe” to protect the anonymity, demanded in the Superior Wake County Court alleging behavior, such as the inappropriate touch of the genitals during the massage treatments by Robert Murphy Jr., that lawsuit was against Murphy together with eight current school officials and previously individuals individually, tied to their supervision roles. This complaint against NC State echoes those accusations.

A NC state spokesman said Thursday that the school would not comment on pending litigation. A Murphy lawyer, who was in NC State from 2012 to 2022, said Thursday that the former main coach is falsely accused and there has been “a misfortune of credible evidence that he assaulted anyone.”

This week's demands extend a case that began with a single athlete demand three years ago.
