The Queen of Maryland, the projected selection of the 10 best, to enter the NBA draft


Days after taking Maryland to Sweet 16, Derik Queen decided to take her talents to the NBA.

“I am proud to say that I am entering the NBA Draft of 2025,” said SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt “on Friday.

Queen, a 10-inch center that is projected as selection No. 10 in the last ESPN Draft Mock, won the honors of Associated Press All-America and the honors of the first All-Big Ten team this season. He also averaged 18.6 points in three NCAA tournament games.

Queen scored 27 points in the defeat 87-71 of his team against Florida at the Sweet 16. He improved his stock with his effort in the postseason.

During his announcement, Queen said he was grateful for his intimate circle and his former chief coach, Kevin Willard, who recently accepted the work of Villanova.

The former Texas A&M coach, Buzz Williams, filled Maryland's training vacancy this week.

“I would like to thank my mother for everything and all unconditional love,” Queen said.
