The 2024 college baseball season is off to an exciting start.
No. 1 Wake Forest has remained strong minus one loss to open the year, and the usual SEC powerhouses (six SEC teams are ranked in the top 10) are putting their best foot forward right out of the gate. And between familiar faces in new places, like Chase Burns at Wake Forest, and players who shined last season doing the same this year, like Jac Caglianone at Florida, there has been star power across the board. Although we are still quite a ways away from Omaha, we are excited to see where this season takes us.
Here are the players we're watching from the start, plus the current top 25 with a couple weeks of the season already under our belts.
Players to watch
Charlie Condon, 1B/OF, Georgia
If you're not paying attention to Condon this year, you're completely missing out. In 11 games this season, he has hit eight home runs, including an excellent three-homer outing against Michigan State on February 28. He has a total of 25 hits and 15 RBIs as well, and looks pretty unstoppable as a starter. to make some noise in the draft: ESPN's Kiley McDaniel currently has Condon in his top 10. He has been a valuable part of UGA's defense this season, making game after game. Although Georgia is unranked at this time, the Bulldogs boast a 10-1 record.
Hope @UGABasketball it's good because @CharlieCondon14 I just sent a 💣 to the Stegeman Coliseum❗️

Jac Caglianone, 1B/LHP, Florida
Caglianone is simply out of this world. Dominant on both sides of the ball, Caglianone has further improved his game from last season. Last weekend, he recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts against Miami and, of course, also hit a home run in the same game. He has four total home runs this season and 22 hits to go along with 13 RBIs. Florida is ranked No. 4 and with Caglianone continuing to dominate, the school should be competitive throughout the regular season and beyond.
