US men's basketball star Stephen Curry and head coach Steve Kerr endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president while speaking to reporters on Thursday.
President Biden announced Sunday that he was withdrawing from his re-election campaign and endorsing Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential nominee. Biden's decision came after weeks of upheaval from top Democrats and donors following his disastrous debate with former President Trump.

Curry and Kerr, who are with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA, made their comments days before the team begins its matchups at the Olympics.
“Vice President Harris is prepared to bring her energy to this campaign and hopefully she'll be on the shortlist of candidates that win the election, but it's a significant accomplishment, to say the least,” Curry said via ESPN. “She represents the Bay Area. She's been a great advocate for us, so I want to give that energy back to her.”
“I'm very excited. Obviously, we're representing our country. These next few months are monumental for our country and the direction we're going. Hopefully, this is a great way for us to do our part and continue to unify the country. Sports bring a lot of people together. For her, right now, knowing what's ahead of us, it's all about positive energy and optimism knowing how divided our country is right now.”

“Truly, you all represent the best of the best,” Harris told the players. “And being part of Team USA means representing our nation. You are, as you are every day on and off the court, ambassadors of who we are as a country. You represent leaders in every walk of life. And the fact that you're going to Paris and bringing back that gold is another example of your excellence, your teamwork, your compassion and your commitment.”
