TO New York Islanders Minor Leaguer has been suspended 10 games for abuse of an official after sending a referee flying to the boards during a game during the weekend.

The Bridgeport Isleños striker, Adam Beckman, 23, will miss the rest of the regular season with only five remaining games after he was suspended by the American Hockey League Players Security Committee on Wednesday.

“Beckman was suspended under the provisions of rule 40.3 of AHL for the physical abuse of an official (category II),” said the committee in a press release. “Beckman will miss the last five Bridgeport games of the regular season 2024-25, as well as the next five games for which he is active on a list of Ahl Club.”

The play occurred during the third period of a game against the Charlotte Checkers On Saturday.

Beckman was in the Charlotte area when he seemed to skate in the official. Then he seemed to push the officer backwards, which sent him directly to the ice and entered the tables. The incident caused a hard reaction of fans who attended.

Beckman stayed with the official when a team coach came to see him. According to the reports, the official could go up again and continue.

The suspension occurs less than a month after Beckman was acquired by the islanders in an exchange with the New Jersey Devils. He registered 33 points with the AVILS affiliate team, the utica comets, before being changed.

Beckman made his debut at the NHL with him Minnesota Wild in October 2021.
