Stephen Curry accepts the role of GM Assistant for Davidson Hoops


The Golden State Warriors star, Stephen Curry, has accepted a role with her Alma Mater Davidson College as assistant to general manager of basketball programs, said University officials to ESPN.

Curry becomes the first active player in the main professional sports in the United States to take administrative work with an NCAA team.

In his new role, Curry, who played three seasons in Davidson (2006-09), will provide guidance to the teams of men and women based on his university and professional experience.

He will work with General Manager Austin Buntz, former member of the Under Armor Global Marketing sports marketing team. Curry first signed with Under Armor in 2013 and launched its own Curry brand as an independent company with the company in 2020. It also signed a life -for -per -contract shoes in recent years.

Curry, his wife Ayesha Curry and the fans of Davidson College of Long Data Don, Matt and Erica Berman will also begin an eight -digit background for men and women's programs. Matt Berman, who played football for three seasons in Davidson as a member of the 2005 class, will serve as another assistant general manager.

“The Davidson experience is first category,” Curry said in a statement published by the school. “My trip since I arrived in Davidson in 2006 for now I showed that I had the opportunity to play basketball at the highest level, I got a great education, an incredible network through Davidson's alumni and continue stirring the flag of Davidson. I want very talented student and high -character student athletes to have the same experience.”

As a second year student in Davidson, Curry established the record of a single season of the NCAA for triples, he was appointed player of the year of the conference twice and, after his third year, he became the general selection number 7 in the Draft of the NBA 2009 by the Warriors.

The future member of the Hall of Fame won two most valuable players and four championships with the Warriors and is in its 16th season with the team.

Curry returned to Davidson in 2022 to complete his degree as a member of the 2010 class. It was also included in the School Hall of Fame.

In a similar movement, the retired field marshal from the NFL Andrew Luck accepted a general manager position in his Alma Mater Stanford last year.
