South Carolina will open title defense in Las Vegas against Michigan

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Defending national champion South Carolina has another eye-catching opening planned.

The Gamecocks will face Michigan in the Hall of Fame Series in Las Vegas on Nov. 4 to kick off the season. A year ago, South Carolina began its championship season undefeated by defeating Notre Dame in Paris.

“We are excited to have another great destination and event to start our 2024-25 season, for our team and for our FAMS,” said South Carolina coach Dawn Staley. “The Hall of Fame Series has become an incredible showcase for the best teams in the country in men's and women's basketball, and we look forward to adding our names to that list this season.”

The game will be the first between the Gamecocks and Wolverines since 1995. South Carolina leads the all-time series 3-0.

The victory over Notre Dame last season started a perfect run for the Gamecocks, who went 38-0 to become just the 10th undefeated champions in women's basketball.

The men's doubleheader game in Las Vegas features Texas and Ohio State.
