Sergio Ramos leaves Sevilla for second time amid MLS links

Sergio Ramos will leave Sevilla for the second time at the end of his contract, the LaLiga club announced this Monday.

Ramos played 37 times in all competitions last season as Sevilla finished 14th, scoring seven goals.

Sources told ESPN that Sevilla wanted Ramos to stay, but the 38-year-old opted to leave due to the team's poor sporting and institutional situation.

Sources added that Ramos, who has interest from MLS and Saudi Arabia, has not yet made a decision on his future and has not ruled anything out.

On Tuesday, Ramos will appear at a press conference at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium along with José María del Nido Carrasco, president of Sevilla, to formally announce his departure.

He began his career at Sevilla, making his first-team debut in February 2004, before moving to Real Madrid in 2005 for €27 million ($28.9 million).

He won five LaLiga titles with Madrid and four Champions League trophies. In the summer of 2021 he moved to Paris Saint-Germain, where he won two Ligue 1 titles.

Ramos was also an integral part of the Spain teams that won the 2010 World Cup, Euro 2008 and Euro 2012.

He has been linked with a move to MLS side San Diego FC.
