New Brunswick, NJ-Rutgers appointed Keli Zinn his new Atlético director on Wednesday, filling the work after a one-year vacancy.
Zinn had been deputy director and director of Operations at LSU since 2022 after stops in West Virginia, Maryland and Big East. She assumes the control of supervising 24 university sports for men and women on August 6.
“Keli Zinn brings the strategic impulse, the operational excellence and the pedigree of the championship that we need at this time for Rutgers Athletics,” said William F. Tate IV, who assumed the position of president of Rutgers on July 1, also from LSU. “His leadership style deeply resonates with the Rutgers mission: competitiveness in the field, integrity in our practices and excellence in the experience of athletes students. He will guide Rutgers to a new era, with leadership with vision of the future, taking advantage of the advantage of Rutgers.”
Rutgers has been without a full -time athletics director since Pat Hobbs renounced abruptly last August. Hobbs cited health reasons for his resignation, and a later investigation discovered that he had an inadequate relationship with a gymnastics coach.
Ryan Pisarri served as an interim announcement before taking the same position at the University of Tufts in Boston earlier this month. Matthew Colagiovanni took over an interim role before Zinn was hired.
The five -year contract of Zinn, approved on Wednesday by the Board of Governors of the Rutgers, requires a salary of $ 1.35 million in its first year, with annual increases of $ 50,000. You will also pay a retention bonus of $ 150,000 every two years of the term.
One of Zinn's first priorities will be to build the name, image and image of Rutgers in a robust and competitive one that can attract first level athletes to the New Jersey school. Scarlet Knights have fought to generate significant null money, especially in high profile sports.
Zinn said that increasing income, by identifying new currents and capitalizing on those that already exist, will be a consistent focal point.
“It is absolutely a need and criticism for our success,” said Zinn, “but also to do so in a way that the traditional side of fundraising and the ability to raise capital and support university capital projects can prosper together.”
Before going to LSU, Zinn spent more than a decade in West Virginia in several roles, including the attached athletic director of 2016-22. He was an announcement assistant in Maryland since 2005-10 after being a compliance assistant for Big East in 2003 and '04.
