Ric Flair criticizes the Cavaliers star for not playing due to injury in the playoffs they must win: “How disappointed!”

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is keeping an eye on the NBA Playoffs, specifically the second-round matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics after what he posted on X on Wednesday night.

Flair expressed his displeasure on the social media platform with Cavs star guard Donovan Mitchell, who was unavailable for Cleveland's must-win Game 5 after missing Game 4 due to a left calf strain.

A win for the Celtics and Cleveland's season comes to an end, which is why Flair couldn't believe Mitchell didn't dress right.

“Calf pain? Really?” Flair tweeted. “You would think that with an annual salary of $32 million you could have played in tonight's game and represented Cleveland! I have struggled with rotator cuffs, after nearly dying from surgeries and plane crashes, and never missed a game .

“I could never imagine losing the opportunity to star in a playoff game for the NBA Championship. And you represent Cleveland, how disappointed! Apparently tonight you are taking the night off at the expense of your entire team.”

Mitchell suffered the strain during Game 3, which is why he was unable to play in the 109-102 Game 4 loss that moved the series, 3-1, in Boston's favor.

It also doesn't help that Caris LeVert, who replaced Mitchell in the starting lineup in Game 4, was unable to play in Game 5 due to a bone bruise in his left knee.

Meanwhile, Flair has a different perspective on not letting fans down since, as he said, battling injuries was common in his heyday.

Mitchell and the rest of the injured Cavs understood what was at stake before kickoff Wednesday night, and clearly couldn't attend.

But Cavs fans like Flair disagree with the decision to sit out a game that determines whether there will be a Game 6 or whether Cleveland's 2023-24 campaign comes to an end.
