PSG-Paris FC among the closest rivalries in world football stadiums

Reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain gained new neighbors in the summer, when the uber-hip Paris FC moved into the Stade Jean-Bouin, located almost literally at the gates of the Parc des Princes.

The Stade Jean-Bouin is the home of the Stade Francais rugby team, which agreed to a ground share with Paris FC that began at the start of the 2025-26 season and will run until at least 2029. The move was timely, as that same summer Paris FC won promotion to the top flight from Ligue 2.

This means that the two Parisian football clubs are parked opposite each other, with PSG and Paris FC playing their home games in adjacent stadiums with concourses separated by the width of Rue Claude Farrere, the road that links them.

Paris FC had been playing at the Stade Sebastien Charlety, but abandoned the ground and moved about eight kilometers west of the French capital. The two clubs will meet as neighbors for the first time on Sunday, January 4, when PSG host Paris FC in the league, and then eight days later in the Coupe de France.

The move has made the clubs two of the most welcoming companions in professional football. But where do PSG and Paris FC rank on the list of the sport's closest stadiums? We've taken a look around the world to find the nearest neighbors and find out.

We have included rivalries where at least one club is in their country's top division, and have naturally discounted individual stadiums that are the shared home of two or more teams.

10. Liverpool (Anfield) to Everton (Hill Dickinson Stadium): 1.77 miles

The two Merseyside rivals are close, but not as close as they used to be. For years, Liverpool and Everton were just 0.59 miles apart, with Stanley Park separating Anfield and Goodison Park. However, last summer Everton moved to their new home at Bramley-Moore Dock, which is a relatively intrepid 1.77 mile walk through the suburbs of Liverpool. Goodison, however, still stands as it is the new permanent home of the Everton women's team.

9. Chelsea (Stamford Bridge) and Fulham (Craven Cottage): 1.4 miles

Located in close proximity in west London, the two Premier League clubs are located in the London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham. You could easily take a leisurely walk from one to the other in less than an hour, but if you don't feel like walking, it would be a two-stop subway ride to get from one to the other.

8. PAOK (Toumba Stadium) and Iraklis (Kaftanzoglio Stadium): 0.8 miles

The Greek team PAOK Thessaloniki has been stationed at Toumba Stadium in Thessaloniki since it opened in 1959. PAOK plays in the Greek Super League, but its closest rivals in terms of geography are actually second division team Iraklis Thessaloniki, who play at Kaftanzoglio Stadium, just a few blocks from the city.

7. Slovan Bratislava (Tehelné Pole Stadium) and FK Inter Bratislava (Pasienky Stadium): 0.52 miles

Slovakia's national football stadium is also used to host home matches of Slovan Bratislava, the most successful team in the Slovak Super League. Tehelné Pole is located a stone's throw (maybe, if you have a really good arm) from the Pasienky Stadium, which has served as a temporary home for third division neighbors FK Inter Bratislava and at various other intervals in its history.

Nottingham Forest and Notts County are separated by little more than the width of the River Trent, which meanders between the two stadiums on the southern edge of the city centre. They are recognized as the two closest senior pitches in English football. Meadow Lane is located between industrial and residential buildings on the north side of the river, while The City Ground is situated directly on the south bank and is also next to Trent Bridge, home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.

5. Independiente (Libertadores de América Stadium) and Racing Club (El Cilindro): 0.22 miles

Only surpassed by the eternal battle between Boca Juniors and River Plate, the Avellaneda derby between Independiente and Racing Club is one of the most disputed matches in Argentine football. It is no surprise that there is no love between the two clubs involved, given that a few streets in the center of Buenos Aires is the only thing separating them.

3. Dundee United (Tannadice) and Dundee (Dens Park): 0.17 miles

Dundee and Dundee United are so close that it would be feasible to build a pedestrian bridge between their stadiums, should the need arise. Dens Park and Tannadice are the two closest professional football grounds in the UK and there is effectively only one residential street between the two stadiums.

3. Malmö FF (Eleda Stadion) and IFK Malmö (Malmö Stadion): 0.17 miles

On par with the Dundee clubs in terms of proximity, Swedish teams Malmö FF and IFK Malmö are located around 900 meters from each other in the heart of the city. The larger of the two clubs, top-tier Malmö FF, has played its home games at the 22,000-seat Eleda Stadion since 2009, when they upped their clubs and moved around the corner to the multi-purpose 14,000-seat Malmö Stadion, thus allowing third-tier IFK to move into their old premises.

2. FC København (Parken Stadium) and Boldklubben af 1893 (Østerbro Stadium): 0.13 miles

Parken is home to Denmark's national team and the country's most successful club, FC København, who faced Manchester City in the knockout stage of last season's Champions League. It is also one of two football stadiums located in the inner Østerbro district of the Danish capital, along with the aptly named Østerbro Stadium. Both Boldklubben af 1893 and BK Skjold of the second division are located here and is literally the width of an athletics warm-up track.

1. Paris Saint-Germain (Park des Princes) and Paris FC (Stade Jean-Bouin): 0.12 miles

According to our calculations, with only Claude Farrère Street passing between the two stadiums, PSG and Paris FC are the closest rivals in world professional football. In a diabolical schedule, Paris FC will host PSG at the Stade Jean-Bouin on the final day of the Ligue 1 season, a match that could decide the title race, the relegation battle, or both.
