Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson and referee Mike Estabrook got into a wild shouting match that resulted in an ejection on Father's Day against the Baltimore Orioles.
The Phillies didn't fare well in the top of the sixth inning as the O's held an 8-2 lead at home, Camden Yards, and it didn't help when Estabrook reversed a call that was initially ruled a hit by pitch. on Garrett Stubbs of the Phillies. He did so after chatting with his fellow referees on the field.
Before Estabrook reversed the decision and brought Stubbs back to the plate, Thomson was already furious about his strike zone behind the plate that day.

When Thomson came out of the dugout and wanted an explanation from Estabrook, that's when things got heated. The turning point came when Thomson, who was clearly barking at Estabrook, pointed her finger at him and nearly punched him in the chest as he screamed.

That resulted in Estabrook quickly turning around and ejecting Thomson from the game, sending the veteran manager into a frenzy.
But what we usually see in these moments is the coach letting off steam and the referee just taking advantage of it. Estabrook thought differently when he started throwing it back at Thomson in a wild scene.
Referee Laz Diaz let the argument play out for a bit before intervening and sending Thomson to the clubhouse.
After things calmed down, the play was taken to a replay review, and Estabrook bringing Stubbs back to bat was the right decision because the ball didn't hit him.
The Phillies lost 8-3, marking their fourth loss in the last six games.
