Outgoing Klopp joins Instagram with message for Liverpool fans

Outgoing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has never been a fan of social media but took the plunge on Saturday ahead of his final game in charge, instantly becoming a hit on Instagram when he amassed a million followers.

Klopp announced in January that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, and in recent months they have been preparing for their farewell match at Anfield against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

In 2020, Klopp said he never understood social media and said he was too old for it, but the 56-year-old now has a verified Instagram account: 'Kloppo'.

His profile description has the words “The Normal”, a nickname he gave himself when he was asked in 2015 if he could become a “Special” at Liverpool.

“Leaving this incredible place is difficult, but I want to stay in touch with you,” Klopp said in his first post looking back at his Liverpool legacy.

“And even though I'm not a social media expert, people told me that social media helps with that. So here we go. See you around!”

Klopp leaves Liverpool after almost 500 games in charge and leading them to trophies, including their first Premier League title, Champions League and FA Cup.
