Ole Miss' Lane Kiffin mocks Brian Kelly's meltdown after loss to LSU

Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin mocked LSU's Brian Kelly after the Tigers coach pounded his fists on the table in anger following Sunday's loss to USC.

Kelly was upset that his team lost in the final moments to the Trojans, marking LSU's third straight loss in the opener. He called his team's performance “unacceptable.”

Kiffin, who coaches the No. 6 team in the country, felt Tuesday was a good time to offer some friendly fire to his fellow SEC coach.

“Maybe you just need a @CokeZero and a (smile),” Kiffin wrote on X.

There was plenty more to celebrate on the Ole Miss side. The Rebels destroyed their Week 1 opponent, Football Championship Subdivision school Furman, 76-0.

Jaxson Dart completed 22 of 27 passes with 418 yards and five touchdown passes. Backup quarterback Austin Simmons completed 7 of 16 passes with 111 yards and one touchdown pass. Ten different players had receptions in the game.

LSU had a much tougher time facing USC. Trojans quarterback Miller Moss led the team on an eight-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a Woody Marks rushing touchdown with 8 seconds left in the game.

“We had some players that played really hard tonight, and we're sitting here again, we're sitting here again talking about the same things. About not finishing when you have an opponent in position to take them out, but what we're doing on the sidelines is feeling like the game is over,” Kelly said after the game.

“I'm so angry about it that I have to do something about it. I'm not doing a good job as a coach and I have to coach them better because it's unacceptable that we haven't found a way to win this football game. It's ridiculous.”
