Gallup did not post a retirement announcement on his social media, but he did post several well-wishes from friends and former teammates. Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Gallup was no longer “on his game.”
Dallas selected Gallup in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Colorado State. He began catching more passes in his second season with Dallas. He had 66 receptions on 113 passes for 1,107 yards and scored six touchdowns.
COWBOYS STAR CEEDEE LAMB FAILS TO SHOW UP FOR TRAINING CAMP AS HE AWAITS CONTRACT EXTENSION: REPORT
After a successful 2019 season with 59 receptions on 105 attempts and 843 yards, his 2021 season was cut short due to a torn ACL, but he was able to agree to a five-year, $62.5 million contract extension before the start of the 2022 season.
However, Gallup received only 74 targets in 2022 and 57 targets in 2023.
Dallas gave Gallup a chance to seek a trade in the offseason but ultimately waived him. He signed a contract with the Raiders that would have added him to a team that included Davante Adams.
