Texas Tech Transfer Darrion Williams, possibly the best player available on the portal, has committed to NC State, announced on social networks on Thursday, giving Will Wade his greatest addition since he took over the Wolfpack.
Williams, who retired from the NBA draft earlier this week, chose NC State on Kansas and Ohio State, sources told ESPN.
A 6-foot and 6-inch striker, Williams obtained the honors of the first All-Big 12 team last season after averaging 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists for Texas Tech. It was excellent in the NCAA tournament for the Red Raiders, scoring at least 20 points in each of its last three games, averaging 23.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.0 Lapse.
Williams began his career with a season in Nevada before transferring to Texas Tech in 2023.
It was a second round selection in the simulated draft of ESPN, but chose to return to the University to try to increase its actions for next year. The only two higher unworthy players than Williams in the ESPN transfer classifications are RJ Luis Jr. and PJ Haggerty, but both are still in the NBA draft and have not yet retired.
Williams' commitment is Wade's biggest splash since he took care of NC State in spring. Only a player of the last season will return to Raleight, but Wade has now added seven transfers, with the seven experience at the Power 5 level, and two first year students ESPN 100.
The Wolfpack was considered the favorite for Memphis Transfer Haggerty, but Williams's commitment could affect his recruitment. NC State is also directly in the mixture for the transfer of North Carolina Ven-Allen Lubin.
