NASCAR driver suffers massive flooding on pit road as rain postpones race

A monster storm postponed Saturday's NASCAR truck race, but those at the track still made the most of it.

The storm moved through North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, site of Sunday's All-Star Open and Saturday's Craftsman Truck Series Wright Brand 250.

Pole qualifying was canceled on Saturday morning, but the race started on time as positioning was set according to the rule book. However, lightning in the area caused the red flag on lap 81 at approximately 2:30 pm ET.

NASCAR then announced at 5:05 p.m. ET that the remainder of the race would be postponed until 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, and the All-Star Open qualifying races scheduled for Saturday were canceled. The position for the race will be established according to the rule book.

The rain flooded pit road so much that for some on the track it was about thigh high.

The weather also affected Friday night racing. All-Star Race qualifying and a pit crew challenge at North Wilkesboro Speedway scheduled for Friday night have been postponed due to rain.

NASCAR announced that Saturday and Sunday tickets will be accepted on Sunday with some stipulations.

Saturday ticket holders will receive “priority seating” for the end of the truck race, while Sunday ticket holders will get seats for the All-Star Race, should they purchase the same seat.
