Michigan State striker Isaac Howard wins the Hobey Baker award


STREET. Louis – The junior eaves of the state of Michigan, Isaac Howard, won the Hobey Baker Memorial Award on Friday as the best player in the University.

Howard, 21, led the Nation in an average of 1.41 points per game and became the first Spartan player to win the award from goalkeeper Ryan Miller in 2001, and the third in general. Howard is from Hudson, Wisconsin, and was selected by Tampa Bay with selection 31 in the 2022 draft.

Howard finished fifth in La Nación this season with 52 points (26 goals, 26 assists) in 37 games, while helping Michigan State to win the tournament titles of the regular season and the conference.

He won the honor on two other finalists, the defense of the second year student of Denver, Zeev Buium, and the second year striker of Boston College, Ryan Leonard, who has already jumped to the NHL with the Washington capitals.

Jacob Fowler from Boston College won the Mike Richter Award as goalkeeper of the year. The second year student was the only repeated finalist and ended the season in third place with 25 victories, second with an average of 1.63 goals against and third with a .940 savings percentage.

Cole Hutson from the University of Boston, who led all first -year students with 46 points (14 goals, 32 assists), won the honors of Taylor Novato of the year.

The awards were presented during the Frozen Four Championship in the NCAA in St. Louis with the West of Michigan (33-7-1) against the University of Boston (24-13-2) on the last night on Saturday.

Hobey Baker was a football and hockey star for Princeton before serving in the Army Air Corps during World War. He was 26 years old, and was already scheduled to be sent home, when he was killed in a plane crash in France.
