US-born Mexican international Julian Araujo has joined Premier League club Bournemouth from Barcelona in a transfer worth 10 million euros ($10.9 million), both clubs have confirmed.
Araujo, 22, joined Barca from LA Galaxy in 2023 but never played a competitive role for the club and spent last season on loan at Las Palmas.
New Barça coach Hansi Flick studied Araujo in pre-season, giving him minutes in the win over Manchester City in Orlando.
However, Araujo was unable to secure a place in Flick's plans for next season, forcing the full-back to look elsewhere for minutes.
Araujo, who made more than 100 appearances for MLS club LA Galaxy, first joined Barca in January 2023 but spent the first six months unable to play as the deal was completed seconds after the transfer window closed.
He then joined LaLiga side Las Palmas on loan last season, making 28 appearances in all competitions, mainly as a right-back.
After representing the United States at the youth level and even earning a senior call-up, the California-born defender opted to switch his allegiance to Mexico in 2021.
Since then he has played 13 matches for the national team. The Tri.
