Navratilova initially said she and her fellow Democrats tried hard to make the playing field fair for transgender athletes to compete in women's sports. However, when she researched that notion further, she determined that it was an impossible task.

“In the beginning, as Democrats and women for the most part, we in this group were trying to find every possible way to include trans-identified men, men who identify as women, in women's sports,” she said. “And the more we try to find a way to mitigate the advantage, to harm, to include in some way, the more we realize that it is not possible. It is not possible to do it in a fair way and here we are in a very different situation.” position.

“As I delved deeper into the topic, I also saw the connection between women's sex-based spaces and women's sports: They are totally interconnected, and I'm sure Penn swimmers could tell you all about that. You've heard by Lia Thomas, okay?”

Navratilova said men are still imposing rules for women, especially when it comes to women's sports and the protection of sex-based spaces. Any type of reaction from women receives threats and unpleasant names.

To put the icing on the cake, Navratilova said, it comes from those on the left.

“Now it's, 'Oh, you're homophobic.'” Go figure. I've been out since '81, yes, I'm homophobic,” he said, rolling his eyes. “'You're a bigot, you're a transphobe, you're a Nazi, you're a fascist, you're a communist,' everything and everything in between. . And this comes from the left. I am the one! My people are turning against me. “They are turning against us women who defend women's rights based on sex.”

She urged the audience and her followers to speak up for her daughters who are involved in this type of thing.
