Marquette recruit Sheek Pearson reclassing in 2025

Marquette Commit Sheek Pearson will be reclassified in Class 2025 and will join the Golden Eagles for the next season, said ESPN on Monday.

Pearson, who plans Red T -shirt as a first -year student, originally committed to the Shaka Smart program in May as a member of the 2026 class.

“I thought it was better for my future to get more development,” he told ESPN.

Pearson, a 6 -foot and 11 -inch center of the John Burroughs High School (Missouri), occupies the 37th position in ESPN 100 for Class 2026, is located as the number 4 player in his position. It comes from a Nike Eybl season in which it helped take Brad Beal Elite to the Peach Jam championship, averaging 11.2 points and 6.0 rebounds. It was classified in the Top 10 in the EYBL game in blocks per game (1.8) and shot better than 64% from the field in seven games in Peach Jam.

Although the rest of the 2026 class is taking its recruits slowly, only nine nine ESPN 100 prospects are committed, Pearson made his relatively early promise in the cycle. He cited his relationship with Smart as the main reason behind his decision.

“I don't think I could have built such a good relationship in the amount of time if I had expected,” he said. “They had been recruiting me for almost a full year. The relationship was very strong.”

Pearson becomes the third ESPN 100 Prospect in Marquette, joining Nigel James (No. 68) and Michael Phillips II (No. 97). The Golden Eagles also welcome the four -star guard Adrien Stevens and the three -star striker Ian Miletic.

When Pearson arrives on the floor for the 2026-27 season, it will help replace Senior Ben Gold, who returns to the central position after starting 34 games and averaging 7.4 points last season. The returnees Caedin Hamilton and Joshua Clark, who were previously red, will provide depth behind Gold this season and compete with Pearson in 2026-27.
