Manchester United have resurrected a deal with Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui after a proposed transfer to West Ham United fell through, a source has told ESPN.
Mazraoui was close to a £15m transfer to the London Stadium but negotiations broke down at the last minute.
West Ham have now turned their attention to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, allowing United to restart talks with Bayern over Mazraoui.
Erik ten Hag is interested in strengthening both defensive positions, but the club needs to raise funds first by offloading players. A source told ESPN that United were initially asking around £20m for Wan-Bissaka, a fee that caused Turkish side Galatasaray to drop their interest.
United's revised demand is in the region of £15m.
Wan-Bissaka, currently with United on their pre-season tour of the United States, has one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag also has doubts over the left-back position, particularly with Tyrell Malacia still sidelined with a knee injury. Malacia has not played for over a year and was not called up to the squad that travelled to Los Angeles last week to continue his recovery at Carrington's training facility.
Mazraoui, 26, played under Ten Hag during his time in charge of Ajax. The deal between Bayern and West Ham would have seen the Premier League side spend £12.6m on the forward line and a further £2.3m on potential add-ons.
