Before Pittsburgh Pirates phenom Paul Skenes took the mound at the MLB All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas, on Tuesday night, he walked the red carpet with Livvy Dune, his LSU gymnast girlfriend and social media star.
Skenes, wearing a white suit and black tie, and Dunne, wearing a bright, neutral-colored dress, were pulled aside to talk to MLB Network about the pitcher's start in the All-Star Game and more.
During the interview, Dunne was asked what it's like to watch Skenes go to work when it's his turn to pitch.

Your first thought? How the hell does he throw the ball so hard?
“My brain can't even process how hard he throws,” Dunne said. “It's unbelievable and a joy to watch. He's a great baseball player, but an even better person.”
Skenes was called up in May to make his MLB debut. In 11 starts, he has been one of baseball's standouts with a 1.90 ERA and nearly 100 strikeouts.
Because of his dominance, Skenes will be given the ball to start for the National League in his first All-Star Game.

He was able to meet some of the players he will face at Globe Life Field, the home of the Texas Rangers, in the clubhouse on Monday.
“It's been awesome,” Skenes said of his All-Star experience. “And yesterday, being in the locker room with all the guys and being able to talk to them, being able to get to know everybody. These are the guys I'm going to play against and I don't really want to play against all year, but it's nice to have them all on the same team for the day.”
Dunne, who flew straight from her ESPYS appearance to the All-Star Game, was introduced to baseball when her relationship with Skenes began to take off. She has developed an appreciation for the game because of him.
“I started getting interested in baseball this year, especially Major League Baseball, and it's been a lot of fun watching it. Being in the MLB environment has been a pleasure,” he said.
“He's taught me and shown me so much. It's been fantastic.”
While he's already accomplished numerous milestones this season, Skenes was eager to make his first All-Star Game. But everyone in the country wants to see how he'd fare against some of the best players in the game — players he doesn't often face, as he pitches most of his games against the National League.
As a starter, Skenes knows he'll face Cleveland Guardians left fielder Steven Kwan, the league leader in batting average; Baltimore Orioles phenom Gunnar Henderson; and New York Yankees perennial All-Star Juan Soto as the first three hitters.
Soto's Yankees teammate, AL MVP favorite Aaron Judge, will bat fourth, followed by Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez.

“I'm just going to try to get outs. Each of the guys doesn't have a lot of holes, but I'm just going to try to attack them and play my game,” Skenes said when asked what his game plan was for his start.
