Liverpool chief coach Arne Slot praised the mentality of his team in his 2-1 victory in the Premier League over Everton.
Slot's team ran to an advantage of 2-0 in Anfield through goals from Ryan Gravenber and Hugo Ekitike before Idrissa Gueye reduced the deficit for visitors in the second half.
Everton continued to accumulate the pressure, but Liverpool managed to hold on to continue its impeccable beginning of the new campaign.
“Once again, we needed a mentality today, differently maybe the few times before, but we always knew how difficult a game would be, much less if you don't have the right preparation time,” Slot said.
“But if you played your third game in seven days against your rivals, then you know that the second half could be very difficult and that is why I did my alignments throughout the week as I did so that the players were ready for this because this was the most intense of the three.
“We knew this before and you could see how well we can play if we are fresh. The first 45 minutes, the way we played was incredible.
“The second half was more difficult due to Everton, of course, but also because we were a bit without energy, but we don't run out of mind.”
The defeat continues the sad record of the head of the Everton, David Moyes, in Anfield, and the Scotch could not win in any of his 23 visits to the Liverpool local stadium.

Even so, Everton served in the second half, with Moyes lamenting some of the decisions against his team after the game.
“I think three minutes [of stoppage time] It was very strange, “he said.
“We have been playing a couple of teams that have taken fast kicks in games and surprised us, but today, each fast free kick had to be stopped and brought for the whistle and then [Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall] I have reservations for it. “
The result keeps Liverpool at the top of the table before the clash of the next weekend with Crystal Palace, while Everton, who receives West Ham United next time in the Premier League, moves to the eighth.
