The Los Angeles Lakers star, LeBron James, will soon be seen on toy shelves throughout the country, in the form of dolls.
On Wednesday, Barbie Mattel manufacturer announced that she has associated with the LeBron James Family Foundation to give the four -time NBA champion her own toy model. James is the first athlete to have his own interpretation of a Ken doll.
“When I was a child, I was lucky to have models to follow that they not only inspired me, but they also showed me what is possible through hard work and dedication. Now, as an adult, I understand how vital it is for young people to have positive figures to admire,” James said in a press release.
“It is an opportunity to recognize the powerful impact of the models to follow that infuse confidence, inspire dreams and show children that they can also achieve greatness.”
The Lakers star participated in the design process for the figure. James's doll, which is 1 inch higher than a standard Ken doll, has personalized clothes that greets its Akron, Ohio, Roots and Nike shoes.
Several athletes have been recognized with their own Barbie dolls. In July 2024, Barbie created a Sue Bird figure to celebrate its 65th anniversary and the Summer of Sports campaign. The tennis star Venus Williams also had a figure for the campaign.
James, 40, is in his 22nd season at the NBA. He is currently averaging 24.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game.
