Kansas's bill outside the hospital two days after the stents are inserted

Kansas coach, Bill Self, was discharged from the hospital on Saturday, announced the university, two days after inserting two stents.

“I want to thank all the incredible doctors and nurses of LMH Health for the excellent attention I received during my stay there,” Self said in a statement. “I feel strong and I am excited to be at home. Our team has had a productive summer and hopes that our batteries will be reloaded and prepared for this next season.”

Self was admitted to LMH Health on Thursday after feeling bad and experiencing “some worrying symptoms.” He underwent a procedure to insert two stents and the university said it was expected to recover completely.

In 2023, Self lost the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments after being hospitalized due to chest oppression and balance concerns. He underwent cardiac catheterization and had two steps placed for the treatment of blocked arteries.

Self, 62, has been Kansas coach since 2003, winning two national championships and taking the Jayhawks to four final finals. He led Kansas to a record of the NCAA 14 consecutive championships of the regular season Big 12 from 2004 to 2018 and was included in the Basketball Hall Naismith Memorial in 2017.

The speculation about the possible retirement of Self became stronger towards the end of last season, but ruled out that talk several times. This season, the Jayhawks welcomed the first -year star Darryn Peterson, the projected selection No. 1 in the simulated draft of 2026 of ESPN.

The lifelong assistant coach Norma Roberts, who was completed while he was left aside in 2023, retired this low season. Roberts was replaced in May by former Kansas star and twice as head of the NBA Jacque Vaughn NBA.

Self signed a five -year amended contract in 2023 that made him the best paid coach in university basketball and was created to effectively a life agreement.
