Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri confirmed that US international Weston McKennie dislocated his shoulder in the Turin team's 3-2 victory over Frosinone.

McKennie had registered two assists to give Juventus their first Serie A win in five games and keep them in second place with 57 points.

“McKennie has a dislocated shoulder, we'll see, he has this problem from time to time,” Allegri told DAZN after the match.

A similar injury in July 2022 had left the US international sidelined for a few weeks.

Both teams came into the match without a win in four games, which had left Juventus struggling to keep pace with Inter in the title race and Frosinone dangerously close to the bottom three, making for an entertaining first half.

Juventus opened the scoring in the third minute when McKennie beautifully controlled a long ball from Federico Gatti before delivering a low cross from the right side of the area which Dusan Vlahovic capitalized on to give the home team a perfect start.

The home crowd was left stunned into silence 11 minutes later when Nadir Sortea crossed from the right and with the Juve defense standing like statues, Walid Cheddira rose to beat Wojciech Szczesny.

Frosinone clearly did not come to Juventus Stadium to sit back and defend, and in the 27th minute their positive play was rewarded again as they took the lead.

Abdou Harroui intervened from the left wing, saw Marco Brescianini's run and made a perfect pass. Brescianini took a couple of touches that took him into the box and he stopped Rugani to fire into the top corner.

Five minutes later, Vlahovic had a great chance to equalize when Federico Chiesa launched a pass that left the striker in front of goal, but his first strong touch allowed the goalkeeper to block his shot.

Frosinone failed to clear the ball and when Andrea Cambiaso's pass found McKennie, her first ball found Vlahovic who controlled before turning and turning her shot into the bottom corner.

The intensity dropped after the break, with Juventus getting closer to taking the lead without creating clear-cut chances and Frosinone seemed happy to get a point, with their goalkeeper booked for time-wasting after 70 minutes.

The plan almost worked, but in added time Vlahovic headed a corner to the far post which found Rugani who, from a tight angle, fired between the goalkeeper's legs to the relief of the home fans and the despair of Frosinone.
