“I wanted to come here to make my dad proud,” Josh said in a 2005 article in LSU's school newspaper, The Daily Reveille, according to the university's site. “He knew he wasn't going to be a star player, but for me being a substitute was what I always wanted to do.”

The school said he died at his family home in Covington, Louisiana.

Pistol Pete made headlines again earlier this year when Caitlin Clark broke her NCAA record for most points ever scored by a college basketball player.
