Joey Bosa details Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh's unorthodox approach to cold dives

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has had success at the college and NFL levels. In addition to his ability to lead a team, Harbaugh has also earned a reputation as one of the most quirky characters in the coaching world.

Khaki pants have seemingly become synonymous with Harbaugh because he frequently wears them during games and practices.

Four-time Pro Bowler Joey Bosa recently shed some light on another example that speaks to Harbaugh's uniqueness.

During an appearance on the “Green Light with Chris Long” podcast, Bosa revealed that Harbaugh puts on his khakis when he dives into cold water.

“That's in line with everything he's done so far, so I believe that,” Bosa said when asked about Harbaugh's decision to live in an RV before the season started.

“I don't know why this is relatable, but now that he's been in the cold tub, he puts on his full gear, shirt still tucked into his pants, and he's sitting there with his belt and khakis on. Sorry, Coach. I'm telling you, Coach, are those khakis keeping some insulation, some heat in there?”

In 2020, Harbaugh was a guest on the “Jed Hughes Podcast” and revealed how khakis effectively became part of his brand.

WHY IS JIM HARBAUGH MAKING THE CHARGERS A LEGITIMATE SUPER BOWL CONTENDER?

“[Former coach] Dave [Adolph] “I wore khakis every day to practice, and most of the coaches I had, I'd see them and they'd wear sweatpants and shorts,” Harbaugh said.

“And I said, 'Dave, why do you wear pants every day?' 'Pockets. I put my script in the pockets. Place for my pens. Place for my whistle.' It made perfect sense, it made perfect sense.”

In addition to his fashion choices and his living situation this summer, Harbaugh is a proud fan of Judge Judy and Darth Vader. He's also a self-confessed fan of milk.

“I truly believe the number one natural steroid is sleep and the number two natural steroid is milk (whole milk) and the third would be water,” he said on his radio show in 2015. “The fourth would be steak.”

During a 2016 appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show,” Harbaugh provided some more details about his affinity for the dairy product.

“We have a big milk dispenser,” said Harbaugh, who was coaching at Michigan at the time, referring to the training facility's amenities. “We have chocolate milk, whole milk, and the guys even talked me into giving him 2% milk. It's better than nothing, 2%.”

The 2-0 Pittsburgh Steelers will host Harbaugh and the Chargers on Sunday.
