SC Dimona and Shimshon Tel Aviv of Israel have set a world record for the longest penalty shootout in history with 56 shots.
Their promotion semi-final playoff in the third division ended 2-2 after extra time, leading to penalties.

Dimona won the shootout 23-22 after each team took 28 penalties in the Negev Desert city of Dimona on Monday.
The previous record of 54 penalty kicks was set in March 2022 in England, when Washington beat Bedlington 25-24 during an Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup first-round tie.
The competition is open to clubs competing in the Second Division of the Northern League, the tenth level of the football pyramid.
