Inter Miami CF will continue to play at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, through the 2025 Major League Soccer season, and is now targeting 2026 as the debut year of the new venue, Miami Freedom Park.
The club previously stated the new stadium would be ready in time for the 2025 campaign, but confirmed in emails to fans Tuesday about season ticket membership renewals and the waiting list that next year would be the “final season” in Fort Lauderdale.
“The 2025 season is expected to be our LAST season here at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale before we move to the new stadium in Miami,” the message read. “We hope you'll sign and cheer for us as we continue our playoff push!”
Inter Miami will offer season ticket holders who choose to renew their membership “priority access to the inaugural season at Miami Freedom Park.”
Some fans have expressed discontent over a second price increase on season tickets since the arrival of Argentina star Lionel Messi in the summer of 2023, and the delay of the new stadium.
“2025 was widely publicized as the year the team would move to Miami Freedom Park and has been used as a 'perk' of season tickets since the inaugural year – 'first in line' for Miami Freedom Park tickets,” Morgan Guigon, an Inter Miami season ticket holder since 2020 who has decided not to renew his membership this year, told ESPN.
“I have decided not to renew this year after an increase of more than 150% in ticket prices over the last two years and since Messi's arrival… it is cheaper to buy tickets on the resale market on a match-by-match basis than to buy season tickets directly from the club.”
Another fan added on X: “Messi has missed more than half of Inter Miami's games this season. Ticket prices drop by more than 85% in the games he misses. Inter Miami's logic: let's raise prices again for no reason.”
Prices vary depending on seat location.
With a move to Miami's Freedom Park targeting 2026, Messi may not play at the new stadium. His original contract with the MLS club expires at the end of 2025 and it remains unclear whether he will extend his stay in South Florida.
Construction on the 25,000-capacity Miami Freedom Park began in August 2023, and Inter Miami managing owner Jorge Mas said at the time that he aimed to open it in 2025.
“I can't wait to welcome our fans back to our state-of-the-art stadium and hear the chants as Messi and his Inter Miami players take the field for the first time in 2025,” the team said in a statement.
In an interview with reporters at the same time, Mas added: “We are going to accelerate everything, with the aim of having the stadium ready sometime in the summer or early autumn of 2025.”
After missing the playoffs last season, Miami currently leads the MLS Supporters' Shield standings after 25 games.
