Greenwood rescues a point for Marseille against Reims in the French league

Mason Greenwood rescued a point for Marseille with his third Ligue 1 goal of the season in a 2-2 draw against Reims at the Vélodrome on Sunday.

Despite taking an early lead through Amine Harit, Marseille's defence faltered and Reims took the lead through goals from Yaya Kader Fofana and Sergio Akieme.

Greenwood had scored twice on his debut for Marseille in a 5-1 win over Brest on his league debut. The former Manchester United striker made a controversial move to Marseille this summer.

Greenwood, who ESPN sources say will switch his international affiliation from England to Jamaica, became the first Marseille player to score three goals in the first two games of the season since Dimitri Payet in 2013.

Despite scoring a late goal to avoid defeat in his first league game at the Velodrome as Marseille manager, Roberto De Zerbi expressed his disappointment at the final result.

“I'm disappointed and upset. I'm sorry, I would have liked to win this first match at the Velodrome. I feel a great responsibility towards these fans,” De Zerbi told DAZN.

Strasbourg secured their first league win of the season with a thrilling 3-1 victory over Rennes. Andrey Santos opened the scoring for Strasbourg in the 23rd minute, converting a corner.

Emanuel Emegha doubled Strasbourg's lead early in the second half. Ludovic Blas pulled one back for Rennes, but Christopher Wooh's late own goal sealed Strasbourg's victory.

Strasbourg fans, who were protesting against the club's ownership, ended the day celebrating a well-deserved victory.

Nantes end home drought Nantes ended a 10-match winless run at home in the league by beating newly promoted Auxerre 2-0 at the Stade de la Beaujoire. Nigerian striker Moses Simon opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a fine solo goal.

Auxerre had several chances but failed to score. Their hopes were dashed when Ado Onaiwu was sent off in the 52nd minute for a dangerous challenge. Bahereba Guirassy added a second goal in added time.

Lens beat Brest 2-0 thanks to an early goal from Jhoanner Chávez and an own goal from Julien Le Cardinal. Lens lost Deiver Machado to a red card in the 88th minute.

On Sunday, Nice and Toulouse drew 1-1 on a pitch whose turf was damaged by a fungal infection. American defender Mark McKenzie started his debut for Toulouse after his transfer from Belgian side Genk.
